thats usually the feeling you get when you disconnect from your body, its as if you break free, it feels like you are loose inside of your body, and it also feels like there is a vast space all around you, the reason you feel small is because you are small o.0
when you project, you become connected with everything, so you gain this sense of all things that exist, its like you become aware of how vast this universe is and you realize how small you are in comparison.
keep doing what your doing, next time you hit this state, try to relax and observe what happens, try to visualize something, the image should be clear as day for you, once you see the image clearly, try to let that image become your reality, doing this should help you gain perspective on a reality you wish to experience and you will find yourself out of your body.
