And jerrygg38, Free Will doesn't mean we have the choice to do whatever we want. You need to understand what 'WILL' is, and for this you need to understand what 'GODS WILL' is, and for That you need to understand what, who, why is GOD. And for this, you need to know your self.

In one of the many books I've read on nde's there was an atheist who had a near death experience and went to heaven. God had to show him to make him a believer. Hope this answer helps you.

I think, all is individual. Ancient philosophy say that soul gets in her next life a form in accordance with to the latest ideas before death.
