I tried anti-depressants once and quit because of the horrible dry mouth side effect. As for talk therapy, I don't know how much good that does either. So you talk to someone, what has really changed?

I'm coming around to thinking that this is just the journey that I am on. For whatever reason, 'I' chose to go through this kind of life and somewhere in it, I'm growing. I also believe that we come back again and again and during my really bad time, the likelihood of short circuiting that lesson and coming back to try this very same thing again prevented it from going any further. Seriously, who would want to have an attitude like this again given the choice right? Si I just gritted my teeth and put one foot in front of the other and finally got through that phase.

Not to say that I'm a 'ray of sunshine' now, but one day at a time is my way of thinking now.

By the way, I think your English is excellent!

Hi Frankie,
There are different kinds of what we call "depression". Sadness following bereavement and grief, for example, is not the same form as "clinical depression". Not all forms of sadness or unhappiness are "clinical depression." Sometimes emotional numbness/sorrow etc are caused in reaction to certain circumstances, or loss. That is a completely different form to the one which responds to chemical treatment.
It is well-known that grieving usually does not respond to pharmaceuticals, as do some forms of depression. But of course whether to prescribe them or not would be at the discretion of the doctor and not for internet diagnosis!
