Can Inner Child Work Help Heal Negative Subconscious Patterns?

Hello,

I'll cut to the chase.

How do you connect with your Inner Child, and why is it useful?

Thank you.

The inner-child is a deeply wounded child-self who we have turned away from long ago to save ourselves from that pain. At the time in the past when we-as-child were hurt, we couldn't cope with it then, so part was turned away from and left behind. It is always there as a part of ourselves, but we left it behind and abandoned that child-part of ourselves. And now we have to go back and retrieve it.

Now, as an adult, we are mature and can handle the pain which is still being suffered by the inner child. So we have to return to the place that child was abandoned and collect them, love and care for them with great compassion, and provide safety and comfort, which an adult can give to a child.

The child is already trying to get the attention it needs from you as an adult, so you give attention to that child-self as it calls you to. Start a communication. Sometimes writing is preferred to mental verbalisation, but you communicate in a way you both understand best. Something like how you are sorry for leaving so long ago, and you have come back to look after them - how you love them and promise to care for them properly and never leave them behind ever again. Then visit that child every day and give them the attention which they need from you. Form a loving trusting relationship with your child-self, because it isn't a separate you, it is all one you, and this adult/child relationship is considerate that all parts of you have to be happy with your life moving forward.

Thank you greatly Gem for all that you've said, I deeply appreciate it and understand the importance of the innocent Inner-Child.

I'm glad I could get your opinion on the matter, I too think the Inner-Child needs to be retrieved from the darkness it has suffered for many years, it rightfully deserves the love and freedom it desires.

Thanks again.
