So, my question is, what are the real effects of this, if any? Doesn't seem to me to make any difference to anything.

If you're a white guy there's a chance that you can go into a school and shoot up 17 kids and not one bullet will stop you, but if you're a black guy in your grandmother's back garden with a phone, there's a chance that 20 bullets will stop you in just 17 seconds.

If you're a black guy waiting to meet another black guy in a cafe, there's a chance you will be arrested (without charge or being told your rights, or even why you're being arrested), but if you're a white guy this will never, ever happen.

I don't think they need to be taught. They are both intrinsically innate and integrated into us. To me it's about choice. What part do we choose to follow.

It's something we naturally learn for ourselves - at least, I did. One of the biggest problems is the concepts we teach kids that prevent them learning naturally.
