Esther,

There are many folks on this forum - other forums as well - who are down on organized religion, any organized religion. Whether you or I agree with that position is immaterial. Every person has a right to find and follow the spiritual path that resonates within. I usually don't find it a worthwhile endeavor to get mired in interfaith disputes, dueling theological assumptions. The only exception to that rule is if I believe that either Judaism, its sacred literature - including, but not limited to, Tanakh, Talmud, T'filah, and/or the Jewish people are being misunderstood, mischaracterized.

Unfortunately הדרך היהודית remains an unknown to most folks who populate forums such as this. Most of the folks who are not Christians originally come from Christian backgrounds. Although Christianity originally sprang from the loins of Judaism long ago they took divergent paths and are different in so many ways. Trying to explain Judaism is difficult enough and trying to explain that Judaism, itself, is diverse only increases those difficulties.

B'shalom,

Peter

Honza,

Was looking for this and finally found it!

For me, the following short KabbalahToon illustrates the idea of being "nothing" really well:

Hope you enjoy,
