Asking to pick "when" you reincarnate reminds me of the old Three Stooges routine, where they're informed that they are to be executed, but it will be up to them to determine the manner in which they will die.

They respond: "old age"!

From reading Michael Newton's books. Those that are talking about their experiences of life in between lives say that you can sort of simulate taste and touch in the afterlife but its just not the same and its not as good. For example, eating a particular food that you love in physical form...you're not going to experience the same kind of sensations that you do in physical life when you are trying to recreate it in the spiritual realm. Those that describe sex in the spiritual world describe it as sort of a melding of the soul energies...but obviously that isn't the same as physical form sex either.

Well, from what I hear from the other side, we don't have to go anywhere we don't want to. We are the ones who choose.
Of course, there are different beliefs about the afterlife. And different people say different things. But I am looking forward to going to this cool existence like on a very advanced evolved planet. And my soulmate (who knows me, but I don't really remember/know him) told me that he is waiting for me. That was my dream always: to have a life with a soulmate.

Greetings

Life and afterlife is so confusing I think my best bet is to agree with everyone about everything. I think?

A little off the subject, when my daughter was about 2, she drew a picture with a planter on top of a woman's head, with the woman crying, with a smile face in the woman's belly. I asked her to explain it, and she said, someone sent me a plant, to soothe my crying, for the pain of having her, a happy baby. When she was actually in my womb, my psychic friend said she was smiling at me and telling me to relax!
When we are born, we have everything we need in ourselves, that means we are spiritually equipped very well. But schools, massmedia, surrounding degenerate us into mindless obedient slaves, because thinking slave is bad slave.

Now onto topic. From my experience, yes we do choose where to reincarnate, where and when. But there are different types of incarnations in my experience. There is the basic one, where we choose what we want to experience, what we want to be etc. before life, we thread our own fate. Fate is what we choose before life. Than there are karmic incarnations, those are if you have karmic debt and you want to repay it. Yes you can go to hell or you can live trough life of hardship, wich is more effective. Than there are few, God given lifes, where lets say you are given important mission, for instance you must help that person or stop someone from murdering or protect someone or just change course of history. Ussually these lives are short lived and have high importance, because well we humans have free will and God cannot interfere too much, because it would hinder our free will. Ussually these lives are combined into one big, or you just live them seperately. Its not that black and white.

i was told by a shawnee shaman that i chose to be 'me'. and that we do determine what incarnation comes next and even what family we will be born into.

i was also told by a psychic that my son (in this life) and i chose to incarnate together in our present roles.

and we tend (but not always) to incarnate in groups. for example, in a previous life, my best friend was my sister.

i can't remember the name of the book, but i read a fascinating book that agreed with the above statements.

but of course, who really knows? it's all in what you believe and i personally believe in reincarnation.
