The Danish Girl

The Danish Girl

...Is so full of pure love...add the most beautiful music and
and scenery and a Kleenex box...and there you have it.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

Is this movie based on true life events? That would make it more interesting. I enjoy watching movies that are based on true events.

i don't recommend it. it is about a transgender woman, however, the character isn't played by a woman, she's played by a cisgender man, which contributes to the incorrect idea that transgender women are just men. which they aren't!

It is based on the true story of the first sex change operation in 1926
in Paris.
I did not know this when I went...I thought it had to do with maybe cross dressing.
Whether the movie is about him wanting to become a lion trainer
and all the obstacles...inner and from family or society
it would have made mo difference...because, to me,
it was about love...pure and simple.
To me his struggle, no matter what it was, was actually secondary.

Another year maybe...it's up against too much, darn it.
At least Eddie got an Oscar for being Stephen Hawking.

I agree. Definitely my favorite film of 2016. Best story (talk about "unconditional love"! Gerda has got it!), best cinematography, best acting, best script, best costumes and settings, and by far the best soundtrack of the year! (I knew from the movie's first musical theme that Alexandre Desplat had me in the palm of his hand!)

More than anything, this is a movie about LOVE! Big love! (despite the real life events being slightly different.)

It was a movie about bravely being who you really are in a society that had no idea what that meant - it was beautiful and heart-wrenching and I used lots of tissues...she was not perfect, and they didn't portray her that way, which made it even more real...
