Hindu Lucid Dreaming

Namaste.

Amazing, awesome dream last night!

I was at a satsanga with a lot of Shiva bhaktas and/or ganas. We were sitting around discussing Shiv leela and singing kirtans to Lord Shiva and I felt so welcomed there...so included.

A few of the attendees came up to me and asked me for a hug...they said to hold nothing back in my heart with the giving of it and I requested they do likewise and we shared the intimate love of Lord Shiva.

Then, we were all singing and dancing around mad with Shiva intoxication.

I sat down and another sat behind me and started massaging my shoulders and the base of my neck, activating all the pressure-points there...and another sat behind them doing the same to that person...and another sat behind them...like a huge massage-train.

The one giving me a massage noted my activated kundalini as I fed the Shakti backwards through and along the chain.

After that, we just got lost in some of the most amazing kirtans and divine chants I have ever heard! Talk about 'music of the spheres'!

Until...a group of Gaudiya Vaishnavas decided they wanted to gate crash our private little Shaivite party. The bellowing sounds of their mridangam preceeded them, followed by the intonation of the 'Maha Mantra'.

The Shiva ganas scattered in all directions of the compass, but I alone remained and started chanting Krishna mantras in unison, paying my due respects to Lord Krishna...trying to take my mind off Lord Shiva for a while...and failing to do so. lol

After a few songs, the leader of the Vaishnava brigade took me aside and he noticed I was wearing my rudraksha malas and vibhuti and he said "you are a Shiva devotee right?" and I said "yep" and then he went on "you should be worshiping Lord Hari - He alone can give you Moksha". I simply said "I have no desire for Moksha".

Then, the Vaishnava leader said "Give your heart over to Krishna, you won't regret it" and I said "Lord Krishna would need to speak to Lord Shiva about getting my heart back first". I noticed a wry smile play about his lips and he continued "why do you worship that ragamuffin? He goes naked, covered in ash from the crematorium...followed by legions of ghosts and vampires...He represents all the tamasic qualities...totally impure and unholy". I retorted "There are no pretenses with Lord Shiva. I know what He is, what He does and yet I still love Him anyway. What you see as ugliness, I see as beauty and what you see as beauty, I see as superficiality.

Then he produced the most beautiful picture of Lord Krishna saying "what's not to love about Him?" and I was like "had you produced a picture of Narasimha Avatar I would have agreed there. I don't need to be 'buttered up' by a butter thief!" and then he started laughing...it was a laugh that I would recognise anywhere and thus I immediately prostrated myself at the feet of that Vaishnava devotee!

He went on "I am surprised it took you so long this time" and when I looked up, I saw Lord Bholenath standing right in front of me, giving the abheya mudra. I wanted to go straight up and hug Him, but I restrained myself (Vasuki had other ideas about that anyway)...all I could do was tremble and cry. Then we shared a simultaneous thought; "It's a pity all of the other Shiva devotees left. They would have also had this darshan". I was totally blessed! totally grateful and gracious!

Then He said "of course you realise the obligatory boon follows" and I was like "I have so many things I could ask of you that it's difficult to choose just one request and so I cannot choose" and He said "hit me with all then and let me decide". I wanted my physical health to improve, I wanted to overcome obstacles in my tapasya, I wanted to re-take my holy vows as a Hindu and of course I wanted just Him alone. He then said "do the 16 Monday fast and you can have all the above".

I became rather perplexed though; "You don't show up without a reason and I doubt you needed to test me, so what is the purpose of this vision?" He simply said "stop thinking so much from the perspective of me being your 'God' and more from the perspective of you being my beloved! You belong to ME, I don't belong to YOU! you're getting rather possessive about it, but I also realise love will do that....just be a bit more mindful of it".

Love is the key !

My Guru lineage says to repeat the mantra with love.
I tend to forget to do it with love. Focusing more on trying to do the japa
continuously, creating a kind of tension in the consiousness.
Then when I become aware of that, and repeat the mantra with love, I get in another state....
Wish it could be more often.

Namaste Necro,

Thank you for the share. Your dream struck a chord with me, reminding me of my Guru’s teaching about the three levels of tests that God conducts.

The first test is that of Lord Brahma’s; when people approach God for any kind of material help, He simply ignores their prayers and instead starts preaching spiritual knowledge. Many people simply leave at this stage itself, considering this knowledge to be of no material benefit.

The few people who remain become eligible for the test of Lord Vishnu after some time. Here, instead of giving any kind of material benefit or wealth to the devotee, the Lord goes on to take away his/her wealth. Most people at this stage simply give up.

In the Vishnu Puranam, it’s mentioned that the Lord, in fact, steals the money of those devotees on whom He wants to shower His grace (yasyaanugrahamichchaami tasya vittam haraamyaham).

The handful of devotees who pass Lord Vishnu’s test become eligible for the third and final test of Lord Shiva. In spite of losing his/her wealth, when a devotee still yearns to sacrifice to the Lord and serve Him, it only shows his/her true love. At this stage, Lord Shiva gives horrible troubles to the devotee as a test. The name Rudra means He who makes others weep (Rodayati iti).

For example, the Lord in this stage may appear as a mad person in a highly drunken state surrounded by prostitutes. He starts thrashing the devotee with a stick and demands money from him/her.

A mad person or someone in a drunken stupor is naturally avoided. Here, the Lord shows both characteristics and seems as if He should be completely avoided. The prostitutes surrounding Him show His seemingly unjust character towards women. Injustice towards women is supposed to be one of the main gateways to hell and such a person should be boycotted as per the scriptures of justice. He also beats the devotee with a stick and this is violence without reason. If non-violence is the highest justice, violence without reason should be the highest injustice. Moreover, He demands money instead of begging.

Such a person shows the climax of injustice and as per ordinary reason, should be avoided. Even if you know that He is Lord Dattatreya or Lord Shiva Himself, tolerating His test is next to impossible. In spite of all these negative qualities and actions, if you still tolerate Him, love Him, praise Him with folded hands and submit money as Gurudakshina by falling on His feet, it is the climax of your love to God or real devotion at its peak.

The Supreme Parabrahman expresses Himself as Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. It’s like the same person who appears in different dresses at different times based on the occasion. Sorry for the long post. Just thought I should share the little that I know. :)

Thank you to both of you so much for your kind responses.

In my tradition of Agama Hindu Dharma, the Trimurti is Supreme Lord, but try as much as I would like to, I can't get over being a total monotheistic Hindu...which, I am fully aware, is a contradiction in terms. lol

Of course I realise Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma exists, but for me they are only manifestations of Shiva - as basically everything is.

To worship three gods...or even a three-in-one god is just totally confusing for me, when I could just cut straight to the chase and worship a single, omnipotent, all-powerful god, right?

Then, of course you realise none of the Puranas would make any sense whatsoever if one god was all three gods.

For example, who sprang out of Vishnu's navel? and also there's the Jyotir Lingam story where Brahma and Vishnu couldn't find the end of Shiva's light...not to mention Shiva and Vishnu almost coming to blows one moment over the protection offered to Prajapati Daksh and then being very lovey-dovey the next when Vishnu takes the form of Mohini to vanquish Bhasmasura...

Yeah, I just can't get my head around all of that. lol

Aum Namah Shivaya

Higher-Self clears divine throat:

"Excuse me...Necro...forget that Tripurari exists did you?'

Necro: "...but that's all you anyway and no offense, but Your lilas just confuse the hell out of me"

Self *laughs*: "they were meant to do just that, my dear...but there's a reason for my Tripundra...my Trishula"

Necro: "so...you mean to say that it was you who followed yourself around like a mad bull-elephant seeking to fornicate with yourself then?"

Self: "pretty much...intriguing is it not?"

Necro: "C'mon, I'm still trying to incorporate Shakti into Your being and now there's You, Shakti and the other two Gods I have to contend with? where does this slippery slope ever end?"

Self: "It never does.... that's the whole point".

Necro: "If I am going to worship three Gods as being You, I may as well worship the 33 crore of them as being You...so why not just worship You instead?"

Self: "it all depends on which way you want to go here...absolute exclusion or absolute inclusion and I mean, you may develop a taste for red-herrings after all".

Necro: "Look, I am happy worshiping You alone and first I need to get it into my head and heart to worship You as two before I can even begin to worship You as three".

Self: "Yeah, I know...you have a single-focused awareness and it serves you very well...it has got you this far...to the top of the tree, but it won't keep you there".

Namaste.

I pretty much had an epiphany last night. I was unnaturally tripping-out on the Ganesha Stotram, followed by a recitation of the Katha Upanishad, followed by Jagannathashtakam followed by the Mangalam Mantras, followed by Shri Shankar Stuthi followed by a hymn to Kundalini - Jago Jago Re...

I am one of the Deva!

All this stuff just flows through my veins like extraterrestrial, divine angel-blood and triggers so many memories of another life...which was not on this earth...

Its amazing... I too had few dreams of Jagrans & satsanga.
In one dream after jagrun I met God Hanuman too.
My dreams were not lucid dreams. But one dream of travelling to next kirtna after having one kirtana & before that Saibaba puja, was astral dream coz that route was truely of Kedarnath yatra where I completed my one kitana in dream. But till now I did not go to Kedarnathji physically.
