First Healer, your mention of magnetite got me thinking about the mystery of bird navigation. They used to think magnetite in their brains was involved, but now they think quantum entanglement is the answer.
Using bird navigation as an example, we have a measurable mysterious physical result (millions of birds flawlessly navigating the globe somehow). With human spirituality we need a measurable mystery like that. Also we need good definitions of what we mean by spirituality.

The human expression is sufficiently complex and vast that there are many mysteries but nothing as dramatically observable across the species as migration. The variations are immense. Spirit is akin to radio in that it's presence may be registered but it's source is unseen in the physical senses.
Definition and symbology is a real challenge. Fortunately science is keen on precision in definition even as she entertains the vast unknown.

Sometimes I've wondered if a group of 100 or 1000 psychics voting on answers would have better results. Normally they force a few psychics to answer 1000 questions.
The radio analogy suggested another model. Maybe the psi mechanism has a will of its own? So it isn't only the will and skill of the psychic/psychics but also the will of the psi mechanism. Or maybe it isn't the will of the psychic intellectually but at some emotional level? If the psi mechanism doesn't care about the experiment or the psychic doesn't have an emotional interest in the experiment then it doesn't work. So the designers of the psi experiments need to choose more interesting subject matter.

Maybe not science per se, but social science at least. An interesting social experiment on meditation in education http://www.sfgate.com/opinion/openfo...co-5136942.php
