Smelling spirits?
Is that a thing to smell someone recently deceased? I ask because a while ago i was editing a video for someones funeral (this is the only time ive done a funeral vid), and when looking over the pics i could suddenly smell him and sense he was around me. I could only guess it smelled like his natural bo. I just knew it was him. Id like to further test if i have any mediumship but havnt found the means to do so

Yes, spirits can communicate through smell. I have often smelled the perfume my mother used to wear.

Hello
The sense of smell is one of the most common that we can pick up on. We have all 5 senses in play even when in Spirit. It is a way at times of giving confirmation whom we have around us.
When we bring in the 6th sense into the mix we then get to that place of OK this is real and this is confirmations.

Yes scent is a part of their 'energy signature'. A familar perfume that someone always wore becomes a part of their energy signature and is a very helpful way to tune into that and contact them. I think they also realise that, and know we will recognise those things.
I have smelled the scent of my dog when she visits or strongly attunes to me. I have also smelled other spirit dogs around! Unidentifiable ones! Each one has had an individual scent very unlike hers.
There was one really stinky dog one night! Fortunately he only lasted about 2 minutes! LOL Though my Heart of course, welcomed him.

They will communicate this way for a number of reasons. It can be a signature of someone specific with a smell that's associated to them like a particular perfume or aftershave. Natural body scent as well. The list goes on. We all have different things we find pleasant and unpleasant. Good versus bad. A general oder for example may come across as lavender or jasmine for spirits that are trying to communicate that have good intentions. My 11 yr old will smell chocolate chip cookies and sometimes lavender. The tricksters however may smell like something fowl. Ranging from cat urine, electrical fire to a dead rat. Anything to make your nose crinkle and say "What the heck is that smell". I think they get a kick out of seeing us check our shoes to see if we stepped in something. Lol!

My spouse and I occasionally smell cigarette smoke in the house, and we've been here for over 5 years and never had a cigarette inside. When it happens its like walking thru a cloud of it, but it disappears so quickly you can't trace it.

I smell a lot in my readings, my papa comes to me as a scent of cigarette smoke, I know it's him (as a Medium I know this) and didn't know he smoked! after asking my mom it turns out he was a closet smoker and died of lung cancer ... scent is apparently a good method for loved ones to let us know they're around :)

I've had mysterious scents surround me on occasion as well.
One, I believe to be my grandmother, is a scent of roses that lasts only for a few seconds and another is that of myrrh, which I believe is connected to Saint Raphael or the divine in general. Also had some instances with cigarette smoke... my father in law was a heavy smoker and died of lung disease... perhaps it's him, as we loved eachother very much, he was a wonderful man.
I enjoy reading everyone's experiences :)
