Reiki in a hospice

I have just volunteered to do reiki in a hospice, I was attuned to reiki 2, 5 years ago I have used reiki to heal myself and feel now is the time I can help others

In a hospice people are at the end of life so I guess I'm just hoping reiki will bring them peace and acceptance and remove fear and know they will not be alone when it's time to cross over

Any reiki practitioners out there who have done healing in these circumstances, could you give me some guidance please as I have not had much experience doing reiki on others

Thank you in advance

I'm very interested in this as well. I feel that a powerful reiki practitioner could do wonders in helping those near the end of life. I'm actually surprised we haven't heard more about reiki in hospice settings.

Hopefully someone here has some more input.

Hi Angelina,

It's been a while since your post and I'm wondering how you found your experience offering Reiki in a hospice setting?

Currently I work in the bereavement world as a creative therapist, it seems the universe may be inviting me to offer Reiki to those facing the end of there life here. For the time being I feel this would be offered, separate to my work as a therapist, and in a different context/environment. (I'm also attuned to Reiki level 2).

Therefore I don't have any guidance re: your original post but I would love to hear how your journey has been?

Lots of love,

TrainsAndSewingMachines

I have a little experience, though in "practice" sessions provided long-distance and through meditation rather than in person, both for those who are about to pass over and those who have physically died but are still holding on. The biggest thing I've noticed is that in both cases, it's very beneficial to call a helpful spirit to take them to the other side once they finally release. I'm partial to angels since I am more familiar with identifying them rather than beneficial loved ones of the individual's family. When I'm dealing with someone who isn't crossing over - in one case, a woman had died very suddenly in a car crash and was disoriented - I work on identifying the stuck parts of energy like you normally would for releasing injury during a Reiki session. Once they're released, it seems to relax a sort of grip on the person's spirit and allow them to move freely towards the other side in peace. In another session I had, there was a man who had also been in an accident. He had a few common patches of stuck energy that released normally, and then a particularly dense part around his head. Once that was able to release - by envisioning it surrounded by Reiki energy - it gave him the freedom to move on.

I think it's a wonderful idea for you to work with Reiki in hospice; there's a great need for it, and it's heartwarming to know there are people who are taking it on.

You look at her astonished, trying to remember the last time you even saw this person before, the meeting meant so little to you at the time. 'Don't you remember? I was standing on the bridge, staring at the water, and you passed and said 'Good morning'."
