Those of my loved ones who died, despite being elderly and ill at the time, all seemed to appear to be young, fit, beautiful (to me, anyway, but I'm biased because I love them), healthy and looking just like they did in their prime.

I had an uncle I adored, who was born with cerebral palsy; he couldn't walk, talk, feed himself, dress himself or anything at all and was heavily dependant upon my grandparents for daily care.

Then I saw him in a vivid dream about a year after he died and exclaimed, "Uncle Billy! You're alive! You can talk and walk!" to which he replied, with so much love in his words, "Of course, my dear. There are no infirmities or illnesses where I am now."

He, too, looked young and so beautiful to me, vital and healthy, as he would have looked when he was perhaps in his 20's, though he died in his 40's.

Interesting subject though :)

nice account - thanks

Such details are typical of many reports of loved ones looking young, fit and well.

Along with the comfort that the message of survival can bring to the bereaved it's a liberating thought that their loved ones will also be free of any ailments they suffered during their physical lives.

And maybe a comfort for those who are infirm and approaching the end of their physical lives.

To an observer it appears that in the Astral there is little difference in appearance between residents and incarnate Astral travellers. Would you agree?

But where discarnates have the special opportunity to represent themselves to their still incarnate loved ones (eg via mediumship), they may well choose an appearance altogether different from their 'default' one; the latter appearance perhaps being far less important ordinarily in their 'day-to-day' lives.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

I couldn't agree with you more, on that one. Had so many arguments with my father about it when I was a kid, so it was kinda nice to see him appear before me 6 weeks after he died, looking so surprised that I could possibly have been right lol

I'm a simple-minded guy whose aim is mostly to help folk understand issues which, for many, are daunting and even frightening.

My point is that just getting folk to understand the fundamentals is hard enough without going into issues related to: "But, my goal is not to relate so much to the human experience eventually...not at all...nor the 3rd dimension.
There is so much more than appearing on the Other Side in a human state...
there are much higher Celestial Spheres - tho we retain who we are, so to speak."

I'm saying....

My big sadness is that I am unable to reassure my mother about what she'll find when she passes over....

Good, then you post to the folk you'd like to reach.
And I will post to the folk I'd like to reach.
Works for me.

I agree mostly.

But I do notice that some have far more to them than incarnates simply because a lot of the soul of incarnates resides within the body for protection (while the rest of them can go wherever) and also some aspects of incarnates cannot exist/be seen in certain "places" or vibratory frequencies, while those aspects of the residents can.
It's more to do with the limitations attached to being tied to a physical body/the physical existence than the individuals themselves really.
So darn hard to explain so hopefully that makes some sense.

*nods* Maybe for the convenience of it too. Making a good impression and such.
