The Chronoscope
Somehow in my various spiritual misadventures, I stumbled upon a device like a TV set which displays images of the past based on residual energy.
The work was pioneered by an Irish woman back in the 1930's, Charlotte Keppel and here's the Youtube video of it:

The only thing that peaks my scientific curiosity, is how she managed to 'dial in' to a particular series of past events as requested by those who wished to see them at the time.

your curiosity wasn't raised wondering what kinda apparatus was
needed to construct the device in question? i didn't see any real
discussion of that ... only a mention of tesla coils being made from
bedsprings and hairpins (and forks) a couple times.

well i've long sensed that places take on some energetic memories of the people who lived and died there... as an example some people have said ghosts are just residual energy of the same sort.
So presuming you could make the device in such a way as to tune into specific details, I think all you would have to do is take it some place where something happened - the more intense the happening the more 'to the front' it would pop. But you also might be able to dial around something like dialing frequencies on a radio and see other happenings in the same area... I suppose if you did it long enough you would learn patterns and how to try to find specific types of happenings in an area...
