Leaving the body...

... I remember reading about leaving the body by exiting out of the head. When I was younger I had a fear of sinking into the ground. I used to walk on the moors ~ so this was difficult at times. Fast forward a bit and I started meditating and working with crystals. Now at first it was the head that I was working on, but when working with hematite I went to bed and my body felt it was in free fall. This happened a few times. Fast forward a bit more and I'm working on fears and interested in nature and shamanism etc. It's got me thinking about getting over my fear of sinking into the ground. Now I'm thinking of leaving the body through the feet. I suppose what I'm connecting with is the root chakra and the legs and feet.

I'm just curious about this connection. Giving up the body ~ I'm going to have to read more about the Buddhist practice of chod again.

The first time I had an out of body experience it scared the hell out of me.
I was sitting in a wooden chair meditating and it happened so suddenly
and unexpectedly. I moved out on the right side of my body, everything
was in harmony except for me. I freaked, physically grabbed hold of
the chair I was sitting in and did everything I could to pull myself back
into my body.

Over the decades I had to work on my fear, and I do not know what I
was afraid of, except it was a new experience for me which I did not
trust. With prolonged deep silence in meditation my fears dissipated
and I have had many subsequent experiences of leaving my body
without any fear. For me trust was the key for diminishing and getting
rid of fear.

I can only speak to what has worked for me, and for me it is all
about building a relationship with our deeper being. I do not look
for spiritual experiences, including out-of-body experiences. For me
they are just passing scenery on the way to something greater.
Spiritual experiences come to me when I least expect them.

In my opinion our spiritual practice needs a foundation from which to
grow, and developing a relationship with my greater inner being,
or soul, has given me that foundation. It took time to develop that
relationship but it really paid off and it is still growing. I believe that
relationships are the most important thing in existence and that
includes the relationship which we have with ourselves.

That's a good way to think about it. Thanks for sharing Starman.

Last night I journeyed in a dream. Like you said it's something to build upon. Perhaps my next obe won't be so alarming. I'll look at the subtle body and dig out my chakra book

The first time I had an out of body Experience it happened instantaneously
one minute I was in the kitchen the next I was somewhere else.
It didn't frighten me at all as I was so used to the Spiritual world
now I don't have to think about it ,I can do it at will

Hi Native. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure I journeyed when I was younger, but it was a bolt out of the blue when I was older.

My Chakra book covers most ~ today I'll focus on the Hindu chakras.
