Yesterday I spent half the day replanted the garden and tonight the wind rages outside and the thunder is rumbling across the sky and it is hailing again. I will have to wait until morning to see how the plants faired.

Thank you for starting this thread linen. How did I miss it all this time?

You had me laughing dream jo. Tomatoes and cabbages, lol. If they nip them out of the garden what's to do.

This is a seasonal thread Anala. It dies down once spring and the growing season are over. Fingers crossed your garden survived this second assault.

Thank you Native. I am so looking forward to being mobile again.

My gardens are slowly but surely taking over my mother-in-law's yard. She doesn't mind, as long as she doesn't have to water the plants, which is fine by me, because she over waters them. And my husband doesn't mind the gardens, because then he has less lawn to mow. And of course, I can't grow anything that violates city ordinance or federal law.

I'd like to breed plants hardy to the air, water, and soil conditions in my area. This includes very wet cool springs, hot dry fire-prone summers, and sooty, rusty, rocky clay soil. And these gardens aren't just edible and medicinal, but also defensive. Several sharp, spiny, thorny shrubs and vines, hosting pesticide-resistant bees, wasps, and ants, among the peaches and onions. To deter those nosy neighbors across the ditch.

I'm growing a lot of onions, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, basil, and bananas right now. Also got corn, beans, squash, mulberry, blackberry, and those aforementioned peaches. I'll be planting sunflowers, castor, canna, melons, more beans, and more corn either today or tomorrow. I tend to start planting quite early and end planting quite late, experimenting with different growing conditions and whatnot.
