Astral Travel prerequisites

Hi everyone and thanks in advice for reading this. I have tried to AP since some years ago, I have never been succesful when trying to do it consciously, however, I have found myself floating above my bed a couple of times while sleeping. The experience has been great and scary at the same time. I am really motivated to learn how to Astral travel, my reasons include getting guideance and solving inner stuff I have on my mind. In the past it was mere curiosity and amazement out of knowing something such as the astral plane could exist.

I have been feeling down for some time and I would really like to fix what troubles me, I belive astral travelling will help me expand my mind and understand my problems a little better, but first I have to learn how.

*Will my current emotional status interfere with me being able to project?

*Are there other reasons apart the lack of practice that would disable me to Astral Travel like somebody stopping me from doing it given that im not ready or not entitled at this particular moment?

*Is clothing, position, environment among other stuff really that important whille attempting to project? Or is it just a matter of concentration and attitutude what really matters?

*I have just started to practice it again, I can feel some vibrations and I can relax at a certain point, however, quietting my mind seems like the hardest for me. Any advices on that?

I am really looking forward to discussing this subject and my personal outcomes this with someone else. Thanks for your time!

kako... The only prerequisite I believe in is learning more about AP so your questions are answered, you learn methods for doing it that work for you, and you find out how to deal with anything that might come up.

Some authors or people may say that clothing, environment etc is important. The only thing that is important is if you are comfortable and you are not going to be disturbed by the phone ringing or someone walking in the room. Your clothes have to be comfortable and not tight.
If you are going through a rough time it can make it harder to astral project. You have to be relaxed. It is difficult to relax properly if you are upset or angry about something. If that happens it is better to wait until you are in a better mood. If you really want to ap you could put your problems out of your mind for a while and just forget about worries and problems. If you can do that then it will be a lot easier to ap.
I do not believe anyone can stop you from astral projecting. The only person that can stop you from ap is yourself. I do not believe people are not ready to astral project. If you want to astral project then astral project. I read in a book and it said people who see awful things in the astral should not ap at this time. They should give it a rest and try again later when they are ready.

You will have to keep your attitude positive, and you must ground yourself every time you attempt it. I think those should be the only prerequisites. If your attitude is negative and you are not grounded, you run the risk of picking up spirit attachments in the lower astral realms which can lead to serious problems.

Excellent threads on here by some very experienced APers, Xan , Xanth and AstralSuzy (even if she doesn't agree hehe), have a look through their posts.

I enjoy William Buhlman's work over Robert Monroe and there are excellent vides on youtube but you really have to go with what feels right for you.

Most definitely. Being able to center and ground yourself is what I consider to be a prerequisite.

Not in the slightest. The only barrier to astral projection is yourself.

Only in as much as you are completely comfortable and not distracted.

This morning I tried, knowing I may not succeed but I kept in mind that I had to explore and relate to the sensations of deep physical and mind relaxation. That worked, just lowering my expectations led me to being able to relax more deeply, and quietting my mind was easier just by forcing myself to be aware of my breathing.

The last couple of times I have also felt some kind of warm and comforting sensation within me, which I got from paying attention to my ongoing emotional status, somehow it helps me to drive off unwanted feelings and thoughts, simply because I am aware of them I am able to reduce them.

Visualization has helped a lot too, imaging myself walking about somewhere else in my house. Recreating myself smelling, hearing and touching things makes me forget about my physical body.

I guess it is a matter of practice like anything else in life, however, shortcuts can be made, I belive, if things are approched right and in a fashion that is suitable for you.

I have noticed a slight improvement just by following Tom Campbell's advices. Thank you Xanth, you have been of great help! Looking forward to sharing my improvements!

If you go into any practice session with any doubt, you will sabotage yourself. :)
