Who are you communicating with when Divining?

How do you know the being that you are communicating with through your tool of Divination is benevolent?

My primary tool of Divination is the I-Ching and I have recently discovered that a negative entity has been hijacking the conversation and misleading me. I now protect my divinatory tools with salt water. I also ask the entity if it negative, if the answer is yes I do a ritual consisting of visualization and prayers to get rid of it. Often i have to repeat this ritual several times before the entity leaves.

I create a space in which negative entities cannot exist. As for tools, I don't use them any more, though I did use the I Ching for several years in my teens. I used to keep my coins in a sacred pouch. I didn't really think about protecting them at the time but I think the pouch would have done it.

Cleanse your tools and raise your personal energy/intent, so that when you open to use the tool, you are mentally focusing on the highest of teachers to aid you. Personally, I've never doubted my helpers... I have, however, doubted my own energy and focus and have learnt to recognise when I am not fully focused.

i just figure that anything i encounter in myself or invoke from my self is part of The Self. if i perceive it to be negative then the revealing of it is an opportunity to make changes to myself and so to perhaps affect subtle changes in the human collective.

however, i don't employ any other "divining tool' other than the myself.

I feel like my energy or intent was good and yet I was still getting this negative entity. I first got suspicious when i feel the guidance it was giving was not suitable for my spiritual advancement. I wanted to reject the whole thing
entirely but a psychic told me that this negative entity had come in.

Why haven't you doubted your helpers?

I don't tend to communicate with a being through my divination "tools" because the "tool" itself is an entity with a spirit that I work with directly. I have a relationship with the Spirit of the Cards in my tarot/oracle decks, for example, and I work to maintain it so it is positive. I've never had issues with "negative entities" and honestly, I would be weary of being so dismissive of said "negative entities." I rather appreciate that my primary tarot deck is brutally honest with me. This means being "negative" when I need a slap in the face.

Interesting question. I think the key concept here is discernment. It takes practice to discern different energies...practice helps here. The best advice I can give is to ask "how does this make me FEEL?". And then trust your feelings. An example would be walking into a room and suddenly feeling anxious, or nervous, or hot/cold. More specifically if you are doing some divining and having trouble concentrating, or sitting still or getting comfortable, there is likely some bad energy around.

Another important point to remember is that YOU have the power. Other energies and beings can only enter your space if YOU allow it. Being confident in your own power will make it impossible for these energies/beings to affect you.

Why don't you use tools anymore? What do you use?

I used I Ching, and pendulums, and Tarot, and playing cards, and stones (lithomancy), and numerology, and some others but I finally realized what the common thread in all of those modalities is: ME. Each of these tools are just that....tools. They have no power to fortell anything until an actual person enters the equation. The person is the key, not the tools.

How do know your "sacred pouch" would have done it?

The pouch was intended to keep things safe. I see no reason that it wouldn't.
