This is something that I'm writing mostly to myself, but it fits in this discussion.

The world is the realm of humans. Here angels and demons are subjugated by them. There are divine and hellish realms, where divine or demonic beings are sovereign, but the world is a mix of all these and mortals. This is the place where saints are martyred and the wicked rule.

Put a righteous angel in hell and he'll wreak havoc there, like a lion released in the middle of a human city. Put an angel on earth, and if he doesn't have enough wisdom and inner power he will wither like a plucked flower drying in the sun.

If people want they get together and beat up a demon, believing they are doing justice although behaving in the same fashion as them. They can do the same to an angel, or bully one to death.

Humans have no power in hell, they are constantly suffering and afraid, but in the world they can feel safe.

The world is ruled by either force or the majority, and that can sometimes be divine, hellish, but mostly human.

When I told him it was half of everything I had I don't think he believed me.

Another time I gave a street beggar some money, she cursed me and called me a female dog (not that I would find that upsetting!!) and said she could tell I was rich by looking at me (er....what?? ) and that I'd better watch out because I had bad karma for doing such a thing.

LoL

Once I decided to give some money to a guy who is always drunk and dirty in the streets because I felt sympathy for his situation and maybe he could use it to buy some food, so I used an envelope with the money inside and timidly told him it was a letter for him. He said he didn't want it, so I opened it in front of him and showed that it had money inside. He didn't accept it and told me to go away.

I don't think he was even capable of understanding because he was very drunk, or maybe he has mental problems, which is quite likely. But now I know better and don't stretch out my hand to those who didn't ask for help.

Sometimes I see a feller sleeping rough and I say g'day and go through the common greeting ritual and then I ask if they are OK for cash and stick my hand in my pocket to show I've got a bit to spare. At least half the time they stop me saying 'nah nah I'm right for now, mate'... and other times they wait to see what I pull out, and they thank me for the small pittance I offer up. It's important to preserve people's dignity because it is a demeaning experience to be on the street, and people are still proud folk who don't like getting handouts. If they are really in need they'll accept the gift, but it should be discrete, with their consent, and passed with a good measure of understanding. Then it's appreciated mutually knowing that it is harder to take than it is to give.
