Are humans better lovers or fighters

This is a question that has always been on my mind. Are humans designed to unify with one another and become one body, or, were we designed to always have conflict with other people for a purpose? There is just so much conflict in the world.

The word designed above is used in the context... that humans were created by a God, Creator, High Power.... The question can easily be answered if there is only evolution, but if there is a Force that is in "control", do you feel humans are designed to fight, have conflict, not to be unified in the human form? What is it that humans do best?

Hi Mathew

Looking at history, sadly I'd say that humans are better at fighting.

IMO, we humans, being primates, are by nature territorial, usually with a male based hierachy. we are therefore aggressive and tending toward violence as a means to control the troop/tribe.

the attempt to evolve a unified collective is us trying to take a that evolutionary step that would save our species (and our eco systems) were we able to accomplish it before we destroyed ourselves. we humans are creating our own evolutionary stressers.

yep...that's why it's called evolutionary.

Loving and fighting arise from the same root...although one reaches much, much higher. We use the same source for war as for passion and energy and love. What we're trying to do is be aware of that. So we can channel both our positive energies and our aggression as a species into creating and acting and being...but not killing for "stuff" or power.

In a more perfect world, killing would be something done only in defense of self or others...a last resort. This means we have to learn the lessons of maturity & wisdom, which include tolerance, respect, and interbeing, for starters. I'm hoping the odds swing over to favour us soon.

this is why i believe empathy is the most important developement for our species. if we could all feel the pain of each other we'd surely be less likely to cause each other pain.

if there was a pill that gave a person empathy, and the more you took the pills the more empathy you would feel.

Do you think people would take the pill to feel more empathy? or how many do you think would?

empathy is the most uncomfortable of gifts so i doubt many of our fellow humans would voluntarily seek to aquire a gift so uncomfortable. it's a whole lot easier to be oblivious to suffering, especially if one is ambitious in ways that requires one to step on others to reach ones goals.

that is very true Internal Queries, the feeling of empathy being uncomfortable for people would most likely be a strong barrior.
