Asatru Emerges In Mexico
Hello,
Emerging Mexican Heathen Community Launches Magazine
They may be a minority, but at least there is an emerging new faith in Mexico.
Most of the members are either German or Scandinavian, or has roots from there.

but it's not so much of a "new faith" is it?
it seems more like a reawakening of an indigenous faith.
it's gratifying to know that a people's heritage was not
eradicated by an invasive ideology.

Although, Asatru is not part of the indigenous faith in Mexico, it does create a catalyst on connecting with the Aztec and Mayan deities. In the article, it does mention offerings being made to the Aztec and Mayan gods for allowing the use of land. Also, by 'new' I mean Mexico does not recognize Asatru, as 82% are Catholic, but the number of Catholics are dropping. Honestly, I don't know when has Asatru been introduced in Mexico. The article indicates 2007, but I'm willing to bet it dates further back. But I agree, Asatru is the modern rebirth of the pre-Christian indigenous faith of the Norse peoples -- the ancestors of the Norwegians, Danes, Swedes, and Icelanders, and it is very much alive.

Hello,
Like most emerging religions, the exact date of origination is difficult to pin down. However, the new collective Mexican Heathen organization, called Allthing Ásatrú México, puts that year roughly at 1997 with the birth of the Kindred Asatru based in Camecuaro in Michoacan. Thus, making Asatru fairly new to Mexico.
