Yep, it's the same problem again. New Posts drop down options stop working and I have to clear cache to get it going again. Last time, I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled and it worked for 3 weeks or so, but now it happened again.

I'm not a hardware/software techy at all. I've simply learned to use computers to do what I need or want to do with them.

So I wonder if there is an explanation for the problem we've each experienced that has to do with the SF site. Because I can't really say that I've been having this issue with other websites. I'm a member of something like a dozen forums, and I'm not experiencing the issue on any of the others I've been visiting.

I don't say it isn't a good idea to clean out my web browser's cache. But why is this absolutely necessary to do so often to make the New Posts functions work, here at SF - when it does not seem necessary elsewhere?

Thanks to the techies who are trying to solve this issue. I appreciate you.

Although I do think it would be great if the issue could be resolved, technically, I don't mind the little chore of cleaning out the cache all that much. This is still a good web forum, and I still appreciate and like it.

Yep. Same here using Firefox.

Any news since your last post on this matter nearly a month ago Lynn?

The later issues of Firefox have the problem with displaying the new posts properly. It was fine one day, then the newest update hit, and then it created the issue for me. I would imagine it has to do with how the browser holds cache as that is how the new posts option functions. I have not found or seen a resolution. Firefox seems to be the problem browser currently. I do not have the issue with Safari on my phone/tablet.

I cleared my cookies, which seems to be helping for the interim. May need to continuously clear them?

You don't need to clear cookies. Only need to clear cache. Has to be cleared often.

But cookies are delicious. NOM NOM NOM... It didn't fix the issue more permanently. Not even a refresh of Firefox helped. Cache would probably be the best option as that is how the functions work. Downside being you have to sign back into the forum, other pages, each time you do that.

I would have replied to your post, but you were asking Lynn for her response and didn't want to get in the way, so went with replying to the OP of this thread.

I don't know if there will be a full work around, other than getting Chrome. But I would imagine eventually the issue will happen to Chrome as well. If people are keeping track of this issue, it first started with IE 8 back in the day, and Firefox was the answer to it. Now It has hit Firefox. I would imagine sooner or later, this will affect all the browsers.

If you only clear cache you don't have sign back in.

On Mozilla - Open 'Options' - Click 'Privacy' - Click 'Clear Your recent History - Ensure only the 'Cache' box is checked - Click 'Clear Now'.

Chrome does not produce a drop-down menu for New Posts. Nor does it show a 'Quick Links' option.
