Please help me on my quest to learn about spirituality

I’m looking for direction to head to learn more about spirituality & I don’t know where to start. Here is what brought me here.
My journey of healing started with a high level of skepticism. While talking with a old friend about her own experience with the local healing room I quickly began to see parallels to her journey & beliefs with mine and I came to conclusion that it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try; honestly I didn’t think much of anything would come of it. I believe in a higher power however I don’t subscribe to any mainstream religion & this friend was able to bridge this gap.

I had a brother of mine embezzle a partnership business we shared that was highly successful. I lost everything, I was totally broke both finically and internally. I had regular sessions with an amazing counselor and still nothing was easing the turmoil I was experiencing; I ultimately reached a level where nothing more could be said to a counselor. The betrayal of my brother completely shattered my children and both my parents & family in general. I was also in the process of suing my brother with lawyers and everything involved. It was a weight I carried on my shoulders with no relief in sight. The morning following our session I woke up with a sensation of absolute peace. I haven’t had any peace since this whole ordeal started almost a year ago. My blood pressure was dangerously high and overnight my blood pressure fell back to normal levels. My medication needs dropped by 2/3’s and I felt full of life, energy & strength. 3 days later I was able to start talks with my brother towards a possible resolution. Even my brothers heart softened following my session with my friend and by day 4 I would say we were 95% the way to putting all this to rest. This story is still unfolding.

I want to learn more about spirituality and healing because what I experienced was very profound. I don’t know where to start because I believe the Bible is best used as a reference. I was raised Christian and I lost all faith in god mostly because I couldn’t get adequate answers to my questions; I also would be chastised in church for questioning the bible. During my “session” with my friend I fully believe I had 3 really icky entities attached to me. Since this session, I can’t even begin to describe the level of peace that I now have. I want to find some reading material that can help me make sense of “spirituality” and I want something that I can actually align with. I believe there is more out there; I want to understand how this stuff works.

SammyPoppins, welcome! I'm glad to hear how well these healing sessions worked for you! Would you mind sharing what type of healing session this was, what modality was used or what was involved? I'd love to know.

This journey will take you all kinds of places. There are so many great books I've read that helped open my eyes to spirituality and how it is different than what can be summed up by a single religion...it's bigger than that, if that makes sense. One great book I read was "The Seat of the Soul" by Gary Zukav. It covered a lot of topics that helped make sense out of real life here on earth by looking at it through a spiritual lens. I think it's a great place to begin.

As far as the healing you received, if you're curious how it worked, there are so many energy healing modalities out there, each with their own principals and perspectives but at the end of the day, energy is energy...our thoughts, beliefs, words we speak or hear..it's all energy and the list goes on as to how it affects us, even though it is not something we can physically see. Energy can manifest in all sorts of ways (from physical aches and pains to entities). It's a lot to take in when you start seeing things from this perspective.
