Obsidian or jasper?

Hello, guys. I got this pendant from my sister and she told me it's mahogany jasper: yet, it adorably seems like mahogany obsidian to me. Is there anyone who can tell me what it actually is?

First of we'd never be able to tell what a crystal is without photos.
In this case I'm wondering if it is the same thing. But not sure. Looks the same, although that'd be odd as obsidian is basically glass and I don't think jasper is.
Hope someone does know. If not, I'd go by what your sister told you.

yes I think we'd need to see a picture. I don't know that much about crystals but from a quick image search I think that mahogany obsidian would look less matte than jasper, even if the jasper is polished, cuz as FairyCrystal said obsidian is like volcanic glass. I never heard of obsidian that is red before, but it looks really cool. red/mahogany jasper is common though. so if your sister said it is mahogany jasper I would think she is probably right. would love to see a picture though
