Those Three Are On My Mind - in solidarity

Hi, everyone. I heard a radio broadcast yesterday on a local university station about this being the 50th anniversary of the "Freedom Summer" campaign in the USA. 50 years ago in 1964 three young civil rights fighting for voting rights for African Americans were brutally murdered by the ku klux klan.

It touched me so deeply that I thought I'd post a few links here. The song by Pete Seeger, "Those Three Are On My Mind" made me weep as I listened to it.

I posted this on the Spirituality thread because to me, tragic events such as these, although they are the antithesis to spiritual love, can actually invoke the power of the human spirit. Thinking about what happened has certainly fired up mine.

In loving solidarity to all of our sisters and brothers around the world who have, and still, face violence and hatred. May our prayers bring comfort and healing. And to James Chaney, Michael Schwerner, and Andrew Goodman: may we remember you and what you fought for and continue the work for peace and equality in your honour.
