I was thinking of trying that myself, as I am pretty new at reading.

However, above all, like others have been stating, get a deck that you just feel is right. You'll see, even when you eventually have a few decks (if you are like me and like to experiment ;)) you will see there is that one deck you just confide in for yourself and another maybe you use to read for other people. It is a very interesting phenomena; the tarot deck/reader relationship.

I too am a beginner and was told to find one that feels right with me. So I chose the Gipsy Tarot deck. I like it so far but it's difficult to remember what each card means. But you should really just stick with whatever deck feels right.

Lady, the cards mean what you see in them. But, yes, pick the tarot that talks to you !
Oh, another thing. Dont hold off until you know each card, just jump straight in and start readings. I started the Tarot School about 4 years back as a complete novice.

norseman, I thought there was only a couple true meanings for each card? Besides the cards don't really talk to me.

I actually chose the rider waite deck. There were probably hundreds that I looked at and I couldn't choose. I bought the rider deck and I LOVE it! I'm really connected to it but i'm still learning how to read them. I usually go online and look up the basic meaning of the card and it works out fine :)

Keep on looking, Lady. You just have not found "your" tarot yet.

I will keep looking! I do feel like I haven't found the right deck. Perhaps I could persuade my mom to get one online for my graduation present? Know any good sites that show all of the different types of decks?
