“In the beginning was the word,” is in the Christian Bible, and is interpreted many ways by Christians, but to me as a non-Christian it means that “the word,” or sound was the first thing to manifest in this physical creation. Many non-Christians emulate that primordial sound by chanting “Om” or Aum. Eckankar calls itself “the religion of the Holy Sound and Light of God.” The Hebrew Kabbalah says that in sound everything is born and have their being, and in silence everything dissolves. Everything comes out of silence.
Sound is vibration; we live in and ocean of vibration and we ourselves are but a vibration. Sound at a very high frequency becomes light. There is an excerpt from a 2009 Popular Science publication: “Researchers at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California successfully converted sound waves to light radiation by reversing a process that transforms electricity to sound, which is commonly used in cell phones.”
Sound is to vibration what color is to light. Tone is effected by vibration frequency and light has and effect on color or hue. You can change your vibration by wearing certain color clothing. In fact the color clothing you wear will effect your vibration. There is a vibration, or sound, connected to every color, and you can hummm a particular sound, and think of the color which corresponds with that sound, to develop the quality related to that color.
For instance the quality of the color green is fertility and growth, and its corresponding sound is F# (F-Sharp). Humming F# daily while thinking of the color green can speed this quality into your perception. Keeping in mind that color is light, and light is and extension of sound, and sound is vibration. Sound is the primordial vibration of the universe; the universe converts sound to light or energy; we human beings work with, and manipulate, this stuff every moment
There are sound and color meditation techniques for manifesting certain qualities in your being, there are also inner sound and light meditation techniques. Inner light meditations are usually third eye meditations, while inner sound meditations are said to be meditating on the primordial word that is within us. All of these are very powerful meditations. Focusing on inner sound daily can quiet your thoughts.
In metaphysics sound is called “the beginning of the whirling,” which is another way of describing sound vibration which is constantly bringing things into manifestation, This is symbolized by the Sufi’s whirling dervishes. When we talk about vibration we are talking about sound and when we talk about color we are talking about light. Light is and extension of vibration at a certain frequency. We can use sound and color in our everyday lives to develop a finer quality within ourselves and influence situations to our advantage.
Each of the seven major chakras in the human body will respond to specific sound and color intones, which can also be used for healing. Below I have listed the musical scale and the primary colors associated with that scale. This information comes from the Hebrew Kabbalah. It might also be useful to note that every color has and opposite color, a color wheel, which you can find online, will show you this.
So I am headed out for my 2-week August RV camping trip Monday morning, but felt I wanted to share this before leaving. Everybody has a favorite color and that color, especially if constantly worn, instills a certain quality in that person. This is also true of the colors we frequent in our home or place of work, etc. It is the same for sound and how we use it on a regular basis, effects our own vibration. Combine sound and color together and you just may have a potent tool. Peace and good journey.
