RIP Peter Garner

My folksent me on trip some year s ago, coch rip, thinking it wold be good for me to get away and for the experience.

Briefly ,I met an old gy on the trip, Peter Garner. A very don to earth guy and we quickly became friends despite me being 42 ish and Peter at that point 80 ish.

We kept in touch through the years and his letters resonated with good sense......and is usual cockney wit and rhyming slang.

Last year as usual he emailed saying he's not "brown bread yet"

This last December , no card and no message. An email from his neighbour confirmed my fears.

I do do para stuff but my sadness in this instance over came any interest and went to the funeral with just the intention of paying my last respects.

Waiting in the waiting room at the crematorium people started coming in, non of which I knew which was not unexpected. Then a lady from my paranormal group......... who had been extremely supportive last year .....came in.

Frankly I thought I was seeing things or had mis recognised "Jean" for some one who looked like very much like her. I waited for her to react..... which she did.

It seems she knew people very well, being his house cleaner!

I know coincidences DO happen but I regard this as some thing of chance meeting.

I was very glad I'd gone as this lady was very cut up over Peter. I was able to offer some support.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend Peter. He obviously had a long life and is in a better place than you or I. So, take comfort in that.

It was a blessing that you were able to be there for the lady when she needed some emotional support.

The lesson here: Never underestimate the positive impact one can have on someone's life.
The power of kindness, a caring act, the hand of friendship ...

Thankyou.

I know life can seem very unkind at times.
