A Time Of Change

The consumer society is over! The Earth does not have the resources to support unrestrained development. The golden billion cannot offer its way of life and its ideals to the other six billion. And by that it evokes intense hatred toward itself as well as the desire of others to rob it.

Nature does not have the energy reserves for us to keep increasing consumption and among other things, that means we gradually have to give up nuclear energy. We unwillingly have to start becoming a society of “intelligent” consumption, meaning consume to the degree of necessity, where necessity means “sufficient for existence” in the modern conditions.

The modern political and economic elite have justified and legitimized their power by promising people increasingly higher levels of consumption. This is exactly the reason why they cannot change the direction from ever increasing consumption to “intelligent consumption.”

Any decision said out loud will inevitably cause a drastic conflict in society and most importantly, distrust of the elite because in the any case society will understand that people’s income will no longer increase, that there are very difficult times ahead for us, and this will last a long time. Moreover, the consequences of this pressure in society are unpredictable….

A new ideology of development has to come forth, and it won’t be in the direction of consumption anymore. A new political elite has to be raised to suit the new ideology, and that elite will be able to change the system. Yet, the elite of the past won’t disappear. It will fight back. That is why it is necessary to provide a wide explanation of the objective laws that are being revealed to us, of nature’s limited resources, and the integral society. This will create wide ranging social support and a critical mass of interested people.

It is necessary to develop a wide social discussion about the objective need to replace the consumer society’s egoistic development with global, integral development that is in balance with nature, meaning one in which society consumes from nature to the degree that provide every person with the necessary and deserving existence. An intense the social discussion will enable a quick emergence of a large group of people who will gradually discern how to build society upon the new principles.

This will give rise to a new understanding of the methods to manage business and government, how to unite the ideological scheme with the governmental scheme, as well as to develop the concepts of the new governance and the ways of transitioning to it.

I can appreciate where you are comming from. In fact i agree with you that change is needed.

But change is what is happening. We are no longer growing in an unrestrained fashion. Our system is falling apart at the seems, that much is apparent.
Our world can absolutely support this population. Its less a matter of having the resources and far way a matter of how those resources are used. Our problem is a huge matter of inefficiency. We just dont know how to share, small or large scale. and our needs and wants are vastly confused.

But while change is occuring, the only way it will work, is not with the establishment of a new elite, rather each man women and child changing from the inside. Spiritual change is whats needed. But it will not be forced down anyones throats. On the contrary, the only thing that can illicit such a response is situations that teach people what is of value and nescessity. People must learn, from each other where they are willing to do so, and from what life will put on their plate when their system falls apart around them.
Why is it so important that people change as individuals for large scale change to take place? I am a free man. I will reap what i sow and gain according to the work i put in. This goes for anyone. No system from the outside is going to force free men to lessen what they earn. If i wish for five meals a day, that choice is mine, if i put in the work to have my filet mignon for breakfast lunch and dinner, so be it, if i can do it thats my choice. Thats where the primacy of individual change comes to the forefront. The hope would be that i will learn for myself that i just dont need that much, that i just dont need a 12 bedroom house. The hope then is that we as humanity come to distinquish for ourselves, in sharp contrast what we need in life and what we want. And live our lives accordingly.

We can support life effectively, but we do not support life effectively. When a forrest is overgrown a cleansing fire will burn down the old so that life will begin anew.

As above so below.

In terms of the lack of resources, I think we can blame the Western world for that one. We consume more than 70% of the resources on the planet, yet there are people starving in third world countries. TIME TO GIVE UP THE BIG MAC'S FOLKS.

For me, a simple life is so much easier and happier than one running in the "rat race" trying to get more and more stuff and compare what I have against the "Jones". I have seen more people thinking along these lines in recent articles and interviews than I ever have before so I am optimistic that these changes are coming and will be in the not too distant future.

Also I find more information about people enjoying giving to others more than trying to gather only for themselves. We shall see how it all works out, I'm excited!

Love and Light
