Meditating - others see you?

While I have meditated recently I have noticed a presence "on the side" while having what seem to be past life memories. First it goes by feeling. Very strong. And the feeling tell me it was a woman and her feelings of what, who she was. I could not turn away from the meditation (it was not selfmeditation but a tape so I had to follow the instructions or so I thought).

is it normal to feel other beings like this? she was not part of being somebody in my meditation.

During the meditation I could for a quick time focus on her and at once it was as if her feelings, "knowing" of her came right to me, to my heart, her feeling. She was not hostile in any way. To me she stood still, her energy not moving about. I could never see her, though. Just feel her.
