Sexual Attraction

Hi everyone,

I need an opinion/advice/perspective on something:

Why is it that when I feel sexually attracted to someone I have this amorous/love feeling for them?

Now its not EVERYONE im attracted to, but every so often someone will catch my eye and I will feel something along the lines of infatuation that I can't shake. Im now feeling this way over an internet personality I recently discovered and I am just gaga over him. He is so adorable!

But why do I feel this attraction in this way? I feel there is something wrong with me every time this happens...

Sex and love aren't always intertwined, but the idea that they do overlap, is a culturally dominant idea for a reason.

I think if you fantasized about someone sexually its inevatable that romantic feelings will occur. Only men can be completely animalistic about sex.

I disagree, this is quite the modern attitude. Have you read the Greek play Lysistrata? In ancient Greece, it was women who were completely animalistic about sex, and it looks like that went on well into the 1600s.

I think what I was trying to say is that I become very intense in my sexual attraction to someone to the point where it almost hurts. I start to obsess and start to feel this longing for the person. I hate it. The good news is, I don't feel this way every time, but once in a while someone will come along and ill have this feeling for them. I hate it.

When this happens it is ALWAYS a great idea to step back and analyze just why you are feeling that way.

I know, that's not a very romantic notion, but life operates on many levels, and I am of the opinion it is best to move from the perspective of understanding, rather than emotion.

Emotions are ALWAYS in your best interest, they are after all how you FEEL, but that does not mean you should always do what they tell you. Quite the contrary, sometimes they indicate an area of great TROUBLE, such as the well known bad-boy syndrome, for one example.

The universe always rewards awareness, and there are levels of awareness too. Ask yourself point blank what you find so attractive about this person. It may be a good thing, and it may not. Pay attention to your feelings, but do not let them control you, rather YOU control you - you could save yourself immeasurable heartache by asking yourself a simple question, and that is a lesson far too many people learn far too late.

I definitely will. Thank you for that.
