question about Jesus.
Is Jesus God, if so is believing in him the same as believing in God?

This question pertains to what is referred to as, "The Godhead". It is also addressed elsewhere.
One might look up the Old Testament prophetic scripture of Daniel, chapter 7 as well. Particulary in verse, 13.

Question about Jesus
Candyfloss type Bible Gateway into your browser and you can read the Bible in several interpretations and versions. You can also type in a few words and get the passages in which they occur.
Jesus said, "The Father and I are one." and , "He that has seen me has seen the Father."
Theologians say that The Father, The Son and The Holy Sprit are all One but are different aspects of God.
Happily, we do not have to understand all that to be a follower of Christ
and be saved.
Jesus said all the scriptue hangs on this: To love God with our whole being and to love others as we love ourselves.

The link Gracey gave is very good.
Also, to read the Bible on line just type Bible Gateway into your browser, After a little practice you can read many versions and intepretations of the Bible and look up various topics on line. It is as easy as using this website.

"The identity of the “Ancient of Days” is an interesting question. Consider the following and you will notice that this title positively refers to both the Father and Christ.
Verse 13 can only refer to the Father because, of course, the Son of Man who “came…before Him” is Christ.
This has always been clear and has always been what we have taught.
However, verse 22 can only refer to Christ. It is He that comes at the time that “judgment is given to the saints.”

"14 So the Lord himself will give you this sign:
A virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and she will name him Immanuel [God Is With Us].

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, "
All written centuries before the birth of the Messiah. In Israel.

And some might say that this is why stories about Jesus say these things, to make them match with ancient prophecies. Another example is that the Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem, but everyone knew that Jesus was from Nazareth, hence the story about the Roman Census, which does not correspond to historical facts.
Jesus was a great man. He may even have been the promised Messiah. But much of what is said about him is fabricated.

Since you feel no need to recognize the Bible, "a book", as you state, then you can discuss it with Him yourself.
These scriptures are all part of the cherished Christmas traditions, which season is approaching. And, seems we will have our own, "Christmas star" appearing. Comet ISON has lined up with the constellation of Leo, and is passing into Virgo, proceeding past Libra, the scales.
Expected to be visible as early as Novermber 28.

Astronomy is very interesting, but how is it relevant to the original question of who Jesus was?
