Thanks Tom, the feeling is mutual. :)

I am absolutely open to the possibility of such a thing being real. I actually don't think there is much different between what you've described and what occurs during the Theravada meditation practices that I experience, although perhaps the interpretation of the experience may be different, or worded differently in the very least.

As far as shaktipat, I know what it is but have never experienced it.

But I tend to be weary of elaborate esoteric descriptions of such things, as I believe that sometimes things may be a bit more simple and less magical than what they are believed to be by certain groups or traditions.
