arthritis and accupuncture

I have had neck,joint and spinal pain since i was around 12, different drs say different things. I had accupuncture a few of years ago for my neck and it was amazing and helped alot, a great experience, didnt feel the needles and felt wonderful afterwards.
I have been doing alot of farm work for 2 years and it has made my back pain really bad, i used to be able to walk miles but am lucky now if i'm able to walk half a mile, so a couple of months ago i had a few sessions of accupuncture for lower spine/hip area...it made me feel so ill...the needles hurt like mad, i was having electric shocks from them and felt dreadful for days after...I am due a couple more treatments at the end of the month but if it is the same then i wont finish the course, my accuncturist is a very well trained practitioner who i trust, so i just cannot understand why im having this reaction to it now, anyone any ideas on this?

I would definitely recommend asking your acupuncturist why you were feeling this way after the treatment.

There are times in certain healings, people feel worse before they feel better. The needles probably starting moving alot of stagnated energy in your system. There also may be a cleansing period or detoxification on all levels of your spirit/mind/body. As the toxins are eliminated from your body, you may feel flu-like symptoms. Again, I would ask your acupuncturist when you see him or her.

I think I might try it based on what t#good it did you previously though. My chinese health centre masseuse said it would help with my back pain caused by my spine being out of allignment, but I wondered how it could possibly work.
