dark night of the soul
i wouldnt wish it on anyone. suicidal thoughts, intense heat and hot flashes in the body, rampant thoughts, always crying, feeling totally exhausted.
had it quite a few times but never as intense as this, and triggered by something so silly. the loneliness crushes the body and all one wants to do is get away from themselves. any feed back or others who is going through, which im sure many has. thanks

You are not alone in going through this, but you definitely can make it through. I feel we all have encountered the dark night of the soul and sometimes it lasting for more than a single night. I know it is simply the spiritual journey we each start to travel on and as we start to unfold and grow you hit a juncture where you need to release supressed pain and karma that we've buried deep inside oursleves in order to proceed onto the light. It is the shedding of this that will help us towards enlightenment. Some people have it come as a slow progression and others can encounter a massive shift or a very rapid kundalini like awakening. It can be hard if it comes on rapidly. This I know because I had a good friend go through it very rapidly and it was extremely traumatic for her in letting go of the past karma in how rapidly she awakened. But one thing I will tell you is that you are not alone in going through this. And you can make it through this period. Greater things will be in store for you once you transition past the worst. When I started my awakening which actually happened in autumn of 2010 but it really ramped up by early 2012...What I can say is I never understood what many who were enlightened meant when they said you must pass through the darkness first to get into the light. But I certainly understand it all now. And it truly makes sense to me now. This is temporary and you must stay focused and you will transition out of where you are. It is like driving through a dark tunnel that is long and you feel like there is no light in sight but there is an opening at the end and you will get there. That is what you need to always keep in mind when you feel hopelessness and depression. It will pass.

I would say keep away from the antidepressants and find natural things to lift your spirits. Anything that can help you feel what you feel and move through it, to release it. But antidepressants in my eyes, will just suppress your emotions, leaving them inside you, keeping you in that state, ya know?

Thank you for the lovely reply..I'm realising that a dark night is a undoing of the glue the stickyness to let one fall into the flow

john1974, I empathise and understand.
While never "clinically depressed" as such, myself, I have faced waves of extreme challenge in my life, usually followed by a lightening and understanding. Some of the times have been downright dreadful.
And I am not immune now.
It seems these things are never completely done with entirely, They are processes of greater and greater understanding, and it seems they come in a finer and finer spiral of awareness each time.
However, the finer the light, the deeper sometimes, the darkness.
They can be hard to experience and quite isolating too.
There is no harm in the isolation. That can send us within to seek understanding and answers.
Some answers just come by enduring and keeping the "Heart in the right place". And some answers come in a flash of sudden understanding. It depends.
Please do seek medical help if you feel it might be useful. Some difficulties can be caused by a physical imbalance (with endocrine system, or something else you hadn't thought of, for example)
Some medications can be very helpful to some people.
However most doctors will prescribe anti depressants because that is what they are trained to do and it depends which doctor you get and the questions you ask, as to whether you will get them to delve deeper into issues or offer other solutions.
(I have heard of some people for example -being prescribed anti-depressants for what was eventually discovered to be hypo or hyper-Thyroidism!!)
Doctors are not trained to recognise spiritual crisis. "Spiritual" crisis for them must go into the "psychological" box, and all that entails. Sometimes they are very right, and sometimes way off the mark.
But beyond all that, it's important to turn to your most reliable source of knowledge and inner counselling. And oddly, that is your own Soul. So listen and be aware in the silence within. There will be answers in there, and guidance in the stillness.
I wish you the very best and sending you positive thoughts.
