Thinking on today's dinner and perhaps steal some ideas from this thread...
It's become very stressful having to feed everyone for every meal and constantly thinking what they're going to eat, on top of everything else!

Yesterday, I made chicken tarhana, it's a thick soup made from a mixture of grain and fermented milk. It's considered a winter-y meal around here and perfect for aiding the digestive tract. (for those who can tolerate wheat)

Linen, I've been meaning to ask about your bean soup. Here, it's our national winter soup and made practically the same way nation wide...
How is yours prepared?

Morning Faith. My bean soup is made with chopped onion, carrot and celery. Ham, and ham bone if you have it, beans and water and a tiny bit of salt and pepper. Pretty basic.

Fermented foods are so good for the digestive system.

I agree. There are some pretty great ideas posted here. It is a hassle trying to keep menus fresh. When I have ideas planned ahead of time, I feel so much lighter!

We went to Colorado Springs yesterday and stocked up on safe foods from all the health food stores. I found some roasted pineapple salsa in the deli. I've always wanted to try it so I will grill some pork chops tonight and top with the pineapple salsa.

And I also got some deli sliced roast beef while there, so tomorrow, Thursday, we will have french dip sandwiches.

Hi linen, thanks for sharing your version of navy bean soup... we usually use pork when making the giant white beans that are inverted into a roasting pan after boiling for a couple of hours ( with veggies you've mentioned and tomato es) then roasted until the top is crispy and the pan is left with drippings and no extra broth.
I find this all very interesting...
That pineapple salsa sounds really delicious!

Yesterday, I ended up making a one pot steak strips and pasta dish ( similar to the one pot chicken we talked about a while back) and today was home made pizza and beat salad.

Tomorrow I definitely have to go food shopping since I've used everything up today....

I made my pork chops and pineapple salsa last night. Thankfully I tested about a 1/3rd of a teaspoon of the salsa way before it was time to eat dinner. Thank goodness I did. It must have gotten some cross contamination somehow or they had a corn or wheat additive in it that wassn't listed on the label. I got really sick. But I would have gotten sicker if I hadn't tested it! I was able to carry on and finish fixing dinner. Albeit hunched over and a large swig of tequila to kill the pain in my gut. I'll use any excuse to get a slug of tequila

But during that tiny test, I my eyes went wide with the flavor. Who would have thought pineapple and garlic go together! I can make my own from scratch now and will definitely do so in the future! Hubby enjoyed said salsa on his pork chops, I just had ketchup on mine.

Another thing I tried yesterday for the first time at lunchtime is pickled brussel sprouts. OMG . I am going to go to our local farm market and see if I can buy some brussel sprouts and pickle some of my own.

As mentioned before, French Dip sandwiches tonight.

Faith your bean soup sounds sooo good. Tomatoes sound interesting too!

Jojo, sometimes I do okay with those serving size plastic containers that the stores fill themselves and offer in the deli, sometimes not. And I got the pineapple salsa at Natural Foods.

I have eaten many containers of the store brand fresh tomato picante from the deli with no problems. But I know to test before I eat a large portion. If you try the pineapple salsa you will not be disappointed. It was awesome (what little I got).

I vote pancakes! What time is dinner?

Hubby just called and said he has a meeting tonight so he won't be home for dinner. So we will have the french dip tomorrow night and I'll pull a frozen entree from the freezer (leftovers + frozen) like dream jo did last night.

I ended up with spaghetti last night. It's easy and I can never get enough spaghetti.

Tonight will be the French Dip.
