He certainly helps a lot of people worldwide and that's what's important. I don't see what his Bank Account has to do with others, nobody knows what he does with his wealth and we don't need to know as it doesn't affect his Teachings.....

Django.
Personaly i read books, and if something feels right to me,i just try to utilize it.
I experienced the ''now'' and i managed to disidentify from my thoughts, and be the observer.

I experiencing something like ''life'' it self.I was no longer lomax, george or pete, but the person under the name, the person who was thinking, and the person who was experiencing.
It's very difficult to describe the feeling with words, but it was like a baby, looking at the world for the first time.

I think the target of almost all meditation teqniques is to find that place tolle calls ''the now''.

Truths can come from anyone.
I don't care if it's a lunatic,a kid,or an old man with a safron robe,a poor,or a rich one.

You know how I said "ghosts in cupboards have a way of getting out," if you look at your dream a month ago you will see exactly what I'm talking about. The dungeon, and the parts of yourself locked in them. If you can't see it clearly, I can explain it clearly for you, here or via PM.

No problem to explain it here.
I'm not sure how dreams and functions of the subconsious mind are related with tolle's teachings, but i'm always open to learn.

I read his first book. I believe he may reach some but not me. I just don't learn that way.

Watch the thinker, and all will be revealed? Does his stuff actually bring anyone to self realization? Given that he became enlightened without this technique, does he believe this is the guidance to share with others?

PS I'm not disagreeing with him either, but honestly curious if "reading about it" helps anyone

Does "reading about it" help anyone?

I have listened to him on YouTube a bit.
I think it is like many other things. If something seems like it could be considered, practiced or used,
then walk with it and see if it has value after walking with it.
If you don't value it, put it with those things you don't value.

I do Love the Now.
I do like the fact that he laughs (which is medicine) even if he's laughing all the way to the bank.
I also believe many people that live in their past and future thoughts/stories could benefit from his teachings of prioritizing
the present moment as our true place in existence and become open to the flow of this moment, since it is life.
And many others teach similar things.

If we Divinely Love now forever, what a ride that would BE.

Listen to the voice in your head without judgement.
Become aware of yourself as the watcher of the thinking.
Feel yourself as the conscious witness of your thinking.
By not identifying with the mind, we no longer energise the mind.
This is the beginning of the end of involuntary and compulsive thinking.
As thought subsides you experience a gap in the mental stream between thoughts.
Resting in the gap, the gaps between thoughts become longer.
The nature of the space between thoughts is stillness and peace.
This is the beginning of the felt oneness with Being, the natural state.
With practice the stillness and peace deepen, and the joy of Being arises within.

Alternatively just become intensely conscious of the Now.

This all seems to be good stuff, and anyone who applies it should benefit.

Peace.

Thanks iamthat; wonder if people can really "do" this without the physical strength of sitting meditation.

Not saying that he's wrong, but if it were so easy to teach people ways of truth, awakening wouldn't be as "rare as many say it is.

A question for you

Resting in "the gap" - what about sensations/these also need to be released, do they not? He only talks about thoughts...why?

I don't think he is telling people to ignore their past, but is pointing out that there is only the now.

I haven't finished his book; I was just curious as to whether anyone can actually have deep awakening through reading things like this.

Experientially, not understanding.
