Quantum Yin is the goddess of mercy and compassion in Buddhism she has similar properties to the virgin Mary in Christianity and can be petitioned for help.

Sorry misspelled. Quan Yin. I have also seen her name spelled as Kuan Yin and in Japanese Buddhism she is known as Kannon.

If you look at statues of Quan Yin, they look very similar in many cases as Mother Mary. Some claim Quain Yin came to the forefront when Christians brought forth statues of Mother Mary to China and other diverse places.

My mother-in-law loves Kwan Yin.
I have a Kwan Yin statue from the 1700's. My wife and daughter used to burn incense off of her.

With such events, I used to see such things as huge dragons parading down the streets. Their colorful costumes and loud music would grab and hold peoples' attention.
My favorite was the Chinese New Years in which the dragon would climb a pole and then be teased with a golden money bag. Flames would come forth from the dragon along with fireworks.
