Good question. I think theoretically it could work, but I think it would require an awfully trained and focused mind.

To try out:

Use your pointing finger, and place it on your forehead. (The area between your eyebrows, around 1 cm higher.
Let it there for about 10 seconds and concentrate on the point which is touching the skin.

Then slowly move your finger away from the point, so that you can move it around without touching the skin.
(but not too far, at first). - (sidenote: Later you can move the finger away, 10~30 cm, and it should work from that distance, too.)

You should (well at least it is so here) still feel some energy thing. Now slowly move the finger all around the forehead, and the energy should follow.

This works, here on all places over the head and even if i point the finger on the other hand.
And there are few more places, on the body, where it is felt.
(on some places it is not felt, but i think it is up to the concentration).

Does this thing have a name and what is it ?

I suspect that it has to do with the Aura, but i'm not sure.

Sounds like you are 'feeling' the 6th Chakra (energy center) and as you do, it appears you might be balancing or energizing that particular Chakra.
