Random channeling

Hi, so I was going through a huge transitional phase in my life, I'd ended a relationship, moved my life and was grieving, working on healing. I'd gone on a night out and met a friend of a friend who seemed very troubled but also delving into his own spiritual path. Mid conversation he stopped and said "you're more spiritual than you know, you get it from your mum's side and you have people behind you (in spirit)" I was really surprised by the whole thing, he then picked up the conversation where we'd left it before the message and he didn't even acknowledge what had happened. I didn't say anything about the channeling and carried on with my night. I was wondering about other people's experiences of random messages? And what this might mean?
