Yeah, I do not like most modern music either.
There is a couple songs from 1990 or later which I like, but not many.
1980's or older I like much better. Also WAY older stuff, like the examples posted in this thread.

One "problem" with this old stuff is that it couldn't be recorded back then, so performers will have to guess how, exactly, it is supposed to sound. The same tune can be very different depending on who is performing... to me, personally, some feel more "right" than others. |

Composed in 1898, but yeah, that's old.
Normally it is sung by a tenor, but that Russian baritone gave some extra power to it, true.
And yet another musician who died too early...
