Visiting the Navajo Nation! =D

So, today, I start out to go on a wonderful and unique trip with my father's church group that will take me all the way to Arizona, to help those in the Navajo Nation that need it. We get to help with housing, and repairs, and anything else they may need. It's going to be a long drive (northern California to Arizona) but so worth it to see places I have never been, and to meet people I will have never had the chance to interact with before. I hope that this will be an enlightening experience, and that it fills me full of knowledge and peace.

Wish me luck! I will talk about it when I get back!

What a grand opportunity for you, to learn from another way of life. I envy you the experience, and hope that your efforts are rewarding for you and those you seek to help.

So, the trip is over, now. It was nice to put my toes in the soft soil of Navajo while I was there. I didn't really get to spend time talking to the people. I stayed out in Shonto, and traveled out to a gentleman's house with my work team, and he was... Oh.... Less than happy to see us, for the most part. I can't blame him, though: he needed a team with construction experience, and we were all greener than unripe fruit. But we did all we could as best we could as long as we could, and I just hope he doesn't think too poorly of us. He did give us watermelon one afternoon, and bought us sodas our last day, so it was nice to know he wasn't entirely upset with us.

Went to the flea market in a nearby town, though, and the people were friendly, though, and very nice. I wish I could have had more time to just talk to the Navajo people and learn. I suppose I will just have to make another trip to Arizona on my own time and dime.
