A Present for the Pagans

Hi

I'm a Daoist, but we have quite a lot in common with our elements, our deities and nature worship. I found a video while wondering around youtube. As soon as I saw it I felt that some of the pagans in the forums might like it, so here it is.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWUnCL4TfJ4&NR=1

about half way in you'll see what might be a creature both the pagans and the taoists know.

Thanks friends

blessed be. :P

Feel free to come into the taoist forum and give us a present back! lol

Hello there breath
I am not a Pagan, however am interested in both Paganism and Taoism, and found that video breathtaking. It was absolutely stunning and I applaud the person that made it.
I'm curious however why you spell Tao with a D? I know it's pronounced with a D sound but I didn't know you could spell it that way too.

Really you can spell it either way and it tends to depend on where you first read the word taoism, I'm one of the least consistent people you might ever meet and I usually spell it differently with no real reason. Both ways are allowed though. I actually pronounce it with a T, not sure why that either.

It's really cool that you're interested in both. Taoists tend to be an introverted bunch so sadly pagans and wiccas don't know just how similar we are to each other. We're actually remarkably similar.

yang
brightness
masculine
positive
hot
dry
fast
aggressive
focus
the sun
daytime

yin
soft
yielding
diffuse
cold
wet
dark
passive
night time
the moon
femininity

you'll find almost an exact similarity with the wiccan god and goddess energies. even the sun and the moon! :P You might have already known this so, sorry if you did.

I know that Taoism is more of a philosophy than an actual religion/faith. Perhaps I will be a Pagan with a philosophy in Taoism? Both paths resonate with me.

Course. I believe that to be a pagan with the philosophy of taoism. You'd be a pagan, but you'd believe that both female and male arrose simultaniously from a neutral state. so that all things are a duality, where as pagans tend to believe that the feminine came and gave birth to the male. Both make spiritual sense, but when you consider the many dualities that all rise together, male and female don't seem to be any different.

"Pagan" is a vast umbrella term encompassing lots of divergent spiritualities and world views. What you describe here (the feminine principle giving birth to the male) describes some factions within Wicca - but it doesn't even extend to all varieties of Wicca, let alone (neo-)paganism as a whole.

Greetings Everyone:

Thanks for pointing that out (Wicked Willow)--in my Tradition (for instance) I believe more along the lines of Taoist thinking, the duality of Creation, Shadow and Light, Feminine and Masculine--working together to create the whole.

Peace and Love on the path to freethinking...

Blessed be...

P.S.

I am sorry to have missed the video. My Library wouldn't allow it.
