Personally, when I find that I am getting "used to" the scent of a particular essential oil, I will mix it with another one (drop by drop until I hit on the right balance).

I was using the essential oil of sandalwood for grounding, but after a week, I started noticing it wasn't having the same effect and so, in my oil burner, I decided to mix the essential oils of sandalwood and sweet orange together.

The combined scent of these two oils was heavenly...after another week, I added clary sage oil to the mix and now, I have a personal blend that puts me on cloud nine.

I love to experiment with my essential oils... often I use them straight up...often my experiments don't turn out so well...like the time I tried to mix frankincense oil and lavender oil together. LOL

Each essential oil has a "note" that can harmonize with other "notes" like rose and vanilla does and at other times, the nose just says "no way".

Just try it and see what happens.

I believe in aromatherapy. I use a apothecary scent box with lavender in it plus Ylang Ylang, Marjoram and Vetiver. It makes me feel nice.

The only feedback I have ever gotten was using peppermint oil.
One person said, Wonderful I had so much energy after working all week - I never do!
Another person said....Pls don't ever use that again I couldn't sleep. LOL Oh, right...then a guy said,
WHAT did you use on me I was beating the girls off me at a club. Rosewood.

Otherwise all the oils just smell goooood. I have no reactions.
Now Flower Essences are a whole other story!! Mind blowing powers.

Oh, I make a salve with coconut oil or shea butter as a summer bug repellent....not what you're looking for, I know ---but still
of interest to this group - geranium, lemongrass, and basil, yum.
Not ONE mosquito with bother you ....say, eating with company and they are
semi swarming.
I had a refill request from a dental hygienist that moved to Key West!
My old stomping grounds...oh, I rem the mosquitoes in all of FL.

Sandalwood and orange excellent, yes.

Also, ylang ylang and orange. Mmm

I have tried using Flower Essences and wish I could continue with them, but the taste of alcohol puts me off, even when adding one drop in water it still tastes very strong in my mouth and the taste stays all day.

Because of this, I was wondering if the Flower Essences could be massaged into my skin instead - do you think this would work and would I get the same benefits using them this way - what do you reckon?

I used to buy essential oils oversea. The oils came in 1 liter aluminum bottles.

About 20 years ago, I 'inherited' from a herbal shop a whole bunch of essential oils.... still have some of them!
