Raising Level of Focus
Namaste, you beautiful people.
It's been 3 months that im living towards a life that i wanted.
Im actually peparing for competitive exams, which is competitive in its truest sense as im aspiring for top rank among lets say 20,000 good performers.
This is my first time doing anything worth it. :)
For my help, i have best faculty a Top Ranker should have. Actually the top ranker will come from the same teachers that i have.
Im an average student.
But i firmly believe i can make i to the top if im able to extract the best out of my teachers, friends and the situation. But looks like im missing something, most of the time im focused but i think this is a very low level of focus, i want to extract the knowledge of my teacher which he is willing to do. But im at my peak, I think its time i seek help from the experts, so i came up here. :)
Right now, this goal of mine is bigger then any spiritual enlightenment.
So my questions.
How to extract the best out of situations, so i get what i want.
How to stay in harmony with my daily cycles, cause sometimes we have to study 16 hours a day in bits and pieces.
How to stay focused and motivated(dont mind if i say all the time)
I have always been an underachiever for not knowing the laws of success, about time I turn things my way. Kindly help.
I'm Anant. :)

Do you meditate? That can help to improve focus and decrease stress which can be harmful.

Well,I was taught that you see an image in your mind or you repeat a word or phrase that means something to you over and over again in your mind. You just keep your mind on that word, phrase or image. If your mind wanders you just gently bring it back again.

Axiom, I believe you problem lies here:
quote:
"But i firmly believe i can make i to the top if im able to extract the best out of my teachers, friends and the situation. But looks like im missing something,"
I believe that your focus is in the wrong place. you have absolutely no control over your teachers, friends, or the situation. focus on you. focus on being calm, on concentration- but most importantly, know that you have the ability to do anything that you set your mind to. sending well wishes :)

I have this problem.too. I love multitasking, and ideas always attack my mind making it hard to focus on something I need to do. What helps me is staying in the present moment. The easiest way is to simply deep breathing. I inhale deeply and slowly and exhale even slower. As I concentrate for a while on my breathing and what i feel inside, my mind calms down and focuses on the present and what I need to do now. Hope it helps.

The best way to focus on something, you should be calm & peaceful. If you are not interested to do anything you can't focus their. If you want to eat mango and you have chosen Apple to buy definitely your focus will not be on Apple while buying because you love Mango. Do the thing what you want. But if you really want to achieve success, then you have to identify your knowledge abilities then chose your goal. A well known motivational speaker Mahendra Trivedi says " a realistic approach is the most important thing to be successful". My opinion you should do smart work for everything that you want only hard work in not useful.
