Is REALITY subjective?

Been getting this feedback from here for a while now. The premise is that reality is somehow subjective; in the sense that it is all up to us. In a sense it is just us. Of course this premise is Hindu and New Age based and is very different from what we are used to in the West.

How do you see this? Is reality objective and applicable to all; or is it subjective and unique to each one of us?

i do not believe in "objective reality" at all.
reality is an experience, and there needs to be an experiencer for it.
if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there...
if there is no one there, there is no falling, no tree, no forest.

consider: power.
i believe that when beings imagine that truth exists outside of them,
they are effectively disempowering themselves.
a whole being encompasses all; there is no "greater truth" which
provides context for such a being. all of truth resides within.

I believe reality is both subjective and objective. That the sun comes from the east is objective or that the earth is round. But not so long ago the earth was believed to be flat and that was objective reality. Some believe that the Earth is square with 4 corners while others believe that spiritually the earth is square and it is represented by the number 4 and physically it is round, so what is reality here. AS far as individuals are concerned, what they each experience is reality and it is subjective and unique. Most people get burned by fire but there are some people who have trained themselves to not burn from fire. If you say fire burns and it is the reality, that would be subjective reality.

Well, physics has required a observer since Einstein theorised relativity, and Bohr spoke at length about subjectivity being an endemic property of nature. Heisenberg showed that there is no certainty to particle behaviour, and it was later prove that uncertainty is not only the subjective state of an observer who takes measurements, but intrinsic to nature herself.

Incorrect. Subjective reality is spoken about in every mystery stream, including the Bible. Mainstream Christianity does not teach this to its followers. But it is taught in esoteric Christian schools. And it's not "subjective." It's "relative." There is relative reality and truth, and absolute reality and truth. The truth regarding physical reality is relative to the one experiencing it.

'Reality' is a construct of the human brain. That's basic science now. Without the human brain there would be no reality as we know it.

On a more practical level, if we change our brain, we change our reality. For example, if we're depressed, we can do things that will change the brain, and our reality will be more positive. Even simple things like breathing techniques can change the oxygen ratio in the brain, or sitting up straight instead of slouching has been show to affect a person's mental state.

Esoteric Christian schools are so far and few between and so far off the radar. Obviously there are some people in the west who believe that reality is subjective. But generally speaking the west perceives reality as objective.

Good point, that makes me wonder is it the brain that creates reality or is it the mind? Or both?
