the ultimatum

Here is the ultimatum as far as I understand it. If you can be God without any "I" at all then surely you are The Lord. Otherwise it is probably just your ego talking! The point is that *anybody* can go around saying "I Am God" and "I Am That" but it does not make them so.

It reminds me of a scene in the original Mad Max film. This guy and his girlfriend decided to play 'chicken' with Max on the road. This guy was yelling "I Am the Night Rider" "I Am the greatest" but he did not figure on Max being that much more than he was....and he lost!

The "I" is a fickle mistress. It is definitely linked to the "Ego". Where would you be without your blessed "I"? Would you be God then? The "I" loves nothing more than making out it is the greatest thing in existence. That is its nature. But once striped of all "I" we are often in a very sorry state.

So, as I say: if you can be God without your "I" than I will bow down to you. Otherwise you are just making out that yourself is bigger than it really is.

I'm not trying to be rude in my post above; but I do feel that God and "I" are two separate subjects and affairs with a big difference between them.

They are. As Martin Buber says: "God is wholly other" and because of that we, as human beings and especially as I, be that mind, spirit or soul, cannot be God in any way whatsoever.
