Proposed laws would require witches to get a permit, provide receipts to customers and make it possible to fine or imprison one whose predictions turn out to be false. A bill has just started through Parliament in the country where witchcraft has long been part of the culture.
……………. In Romania, officials turn to Tarot cards and the like to find answers to the country’s financial problems and beat tax evasion. But soothsayers argue that they shouldn’t be blamed for the failure of their predictions.
