No matter what, even if there is another word for it, it will always remain to be a "label" to describe it. Labels are apart of this reality and seems to be the only easy way to define things and express ourselves.

A lightworker is anyone who is here to be of service and to help others.
Doreen Virtue has written a few books on lightworking and lightworkers. There's one called Realms of the Earth Angels if you want to read about the different types.
