Spiritual Tv-series and films - a list

Hey,

When looking for something to watch I always prefer a spiritual theme of some kind to the series or films. Personally, I like the sci-fi versions where we get to see and experience some of universe's 'loops' interpreted physically. But that is just me, metaphoric films with spiritual messages belong, and also films ON spiritual matters, documentaries and such.

I've found a few such lists online:

I'll start with some of the Netflix shows that are on right now;

Continuum: time travelling
Sense8: telepathy / soul family connection. The characters keep eachother company across space, and can 'take over' eachother's bodies; a kung-fu master helping her cluster friend who is being attacked by thugs, f.ex. They've managed to film the concept really well i think.
The OA: Mysterious setting w kidnapping where the goal is opening a portal to other dimensions.
The Touch: The 'autistic' child who can connect information 'in the air' and change/direct events.

Then there's one of my favorites the FOX series on dimensions:
Fringe Sci-fi but very loveable, human characters.

And some classic films from Netflix, just to get started:
The Truman Show: The man who discovers he is in a tv-show, where all other people in his world are actors.
The Matrix A hacker is given the opportunity to wake up to reality - the 'reality' he has known was a dream; beyond the sensory illusion a freedom fight is waitin.
2012 Film on the Mayan Calendar anticipation of world destruction/ascension 2012, geological disasters...

And actually in the more documentary category I will add my old favorite; which is actually scientific rather than spiritual, but the effect is the same:):

Lucky People Center International: (1998) A musical oddyssee into what makes up mankind, somehow. And I guess the answer I got was, that what makes us up goes beyond mankind... Innovative and spreading such love.

StarTrek: I read somewhere that StarTrek was actually a 'prepare-your-mind-to-be-blown!"-spiritual tv-series; Comments on that? And where would I start, if I wanted to explore that?

Saw Altered Carbon on Netflix, very violent - but fantastic illustration of what is actually going on... A sci-fi where a person can be digitized and a chip moved from the original body into another, who's chip is not active. Creating a drama with one person having several bodies.


Another Netflix series on the same theme is Travelers; teams of travellers from a dystopian future arrive here into bodies of present time humans who are seconds from dying. Some cute characters, but mostly enjoy it for the set-up with new identities in old bodies - and the affect of the body/life changing the person inhabiting the borrowed body.

I guess any film you learn something from is good. I recently saw Lion and was very moved by it.

“A Dog’s Purpose” is a really good film about a dog’s incarnations and what he’s learned. Ignore the propaganda surrounding it though—no dogs were harmed in the making of it.

Ferdinand - it is the best film Ive seen in a really long time, believe it or not. Such beauty of mind... And for all the family and for the whole normal world to receive... wow

"The Tomorrow People" - A series I watched in my teens about children possessing extrasensory and extraordinary abilities.

"Monkey" - An introduction to Buddhism, as told through parables about a journey to take Buddhism along the Silk Road fro China to India.

"Touched by an Angel" - A series about people who have been helped through hardships in their lives via divine intervention.

"The Story of God" - Morgan Freeman...he goes around the world to get peoples experiences of faith and how it changed their lives.

"Sliders" - A series about journeying into multi-dimensional realities.

"Charmed" - all about modern witchcraft and good witches using their powers to help people and restore balance to the universe.

As for films:

"What the 'Bleep' do we know?" starring Marlee Matlin

"Phenomenon" starring John Travolta - I just watched this again two days ago, for like the 5th time.

"The Da Vinci Code" - exploring the world of Leonardo Da Vinci and the Templar Knights.

I love, "The OA"! Also check out more of Brit Marling's spiritual/cosmic work via the films, "Another Earth" and, "Sound of My Voice."

I am also going to toss in the film, "The Age of Adaline" which has an absolutely beautiful and original story with synchronistic, time-defying and cosmic implications. I HIGHLY recommend this one. Really, I cannot recommend it enough! I love it so.

The film, "Lucy" (directed by Luc Besson) has its intriguing points as well, on a spiritual and evolutionary level.
